It made me think about my shoe choices... mainly that unless I'm at an event I need SFI rated things(in which case I'm wearing my Pyrotect high-top driving shoes) or an event like an autocross(where I wear my low top Vans) I typically drive in my trusty pair of Rainbow flipflops. Albeit, I live in Florida and wear sandals year round and so does everyone else, but when I'm out and about and going for a spirited drive, you'll still find me in them. It's never even occurred to me that I should think about changing to something else.

Over this past weekend, I was hanging out with some car friends that I hadn't seen in a while and one of them hadn't been in my RX8 before and we decided to go for a quick spin, it was raining so first and foremost we just did a lot of sliding all over the place but then we took one road that is commonly referred to as the touge. I was having some serious grip issues in the wet and was having to be very aggressive about my downshifts to keep the rearend in line on corner entry and there were plenty of heel-toes going on. It wasn't until we get back to the house and I'm walking inside that my friend goes "Holy shit! You were doing that in flipflops??"
So my question to you guys is, who is comfortable driving in them? Who thinks it's a terrible idea? Who doesn't even notice they have them on?

I put them under the seat and drive barefoot.

It honestly doesn't even both me to just keep them on, and the few times I've driven hard barefoot I end up stubbing a toe... haha

I know a couple of people here in SoCal who drive in flipflops or barefoot. I'll drive in sandals, but for whatever reason I find flipflops too uncomfortable for anything except shower shoes. Flipflops seem like you could get them wedged under a pedal if you weren't careful.

Wore them all the time in college, but never liked driving with them...the heels can drag or catch on the floor at inopportune times, and they're always 'loose' for lack of a better word; it's like trying to type wearing loose gloves - not great.

I can't drive with them on, since the flops get stuck under the pedals sometimes.

Idk man, I've never had a problem with em, and actually find myself more comfortable driving in them than proper shoes.

I guess it comes down to being used to wearing them, I think it would be pretty hard to have one come off, much less end up somewhere it shouldn't.

Sperry's are actually great driving shoes, and they are boat shoes... so Florida.

I actually did the last driving school in Sperry's because I forgot my Vans back at home. My only complaint is that if I walk a lot in them they rub my heels all funny.

Bandaids. Or socks.
